Wedding day rain? We've got you covered...

It’s every bride's worst nightmare. Your dreams of saying “I do” under a glorious blue sky, washed out in a heart-breaking drizzly disaster. The reality of a perfect sunny day in the UK for your wedding, no matter the time of year, is scientifically quite unlikely yet we always keep our fingers crossed for picture perfect weather. At Full Focus Weddings, we love the challenges that less-than-perfect weather bring us and we do in fact prefer a cloudier day (sorry, brides!) for filming as this creates less glare and a more even light to our productions. We believe that it’s best to prepare for wet weather so you’re not disappointed if the heavens open on your big day. If you’re feeling creative, there are some romantic ways you can celebrate the good old English weather and make it a feature of your celebration, rather than a hindrance. Here are our tips for surviving a wet wedding:

Speak To Your Venue

If you’re marrying in a licenced wedding venue then the chances are they’re well versed in disaster planning. Speak to your venue manger to discuss a plan A and plan B for the big day. This will give you peace of mind and leave you to focus your thoughts on the fun parts of planning a wedding like table centre pieces, games for your guests and your dance floor playlist.

Plan Ahead

Like every other aspect of your wedding, you need to plan your day around the chance of rain. This means you must review outdoor flooring, lighting and shelter for your guests. Purchasing matching brollies wouldn’t go amiss, plus they can be easily sold on in the event of them left unused. You can create a bold statement in your wedding photos and video with you and your guests under a canopy of matching umbrellas. We can help you put together a wet-weather plan so we can capture the footage you would like in the event of a washout.

Embrace It

You can’t fight something you have no control over, so you just have to embrace it. This can be particularly difficult for brides who wish to control everything – but once you succumb to the unpredictability of mother nature, you can then focus on all the important and beautiful aspects of your wedding. Don’t lose sight of the key part of the day – marrying the person you love!

Enjoy It

You’re allowed to be upset if it rains on your wedding day – allow yourself to accept that it hasn’t turned out the way you so wished it to be but then try to change your focus to the positives. If you’ve followed our steps above you’ll be on the right track to nailing the perfect wedding, whatever the weather. Be sure to have your plan B sorted so you can enjoy your day and look forward to the beautiful wedding video created especially for you.
