Hot Off The Press: Wedding Trends for 2018

Whether you’re already in the throes of wedding planning for 2018 or if you’re hoping to be engaged and planning your 2018 wedding soon (tip: leave this page open and see what happens…) we’ve scoured the bridal mags and style blogs for you and we’ve got some top tips for incoming wedding trends if you want to be ahead of that wedding curve.

Transparent Décor

This one will be popular with couples that are into contemporary design and clean lines. From glasshouse venues to seating plans displayed on windows or sheets of hanging Perspex, transparent elements are tipped to be a huge wedding trend next year. Think about bringing glass flower vessels or glass candelabra to your tables, or printing your invitations on opaque leaves of paper. Have fun with the lighting, too!

World Foods

The traditional sit-down, three-course wedding breakfast is getting a shake up. Modern couples are increasingly bringing in food vans and mobile caterers to feed their wedding guests. A wood-fired pizza van looks spectacular in wedding photographs as hungry guests queue up between dance floor stints. Think taco stands, sushi bars, giant paella pans, or big sharing plates on tables for guests to tuck into.

Wedding Wreaths

They’re not just for Christmas, you know. Wreaths will become the floral decoration of choice for style-conscious brides and grooms in 2018. Think huge, circular chandeliers of foliage suspended from marquee ceilings, abundant with eucalyptus and wild flowers, or smaller wreaths used as leafy centrepieces for circular tables.

Smaller Gatherings

Where once upon a time, bigger meant better, 2018 will see couples throw ‘boutique weddings’ with small but exclusive guests lists that include only close family and a tight circle of friends. With an emphasis on quality rather than quantity, these savvy couples will enjoy more cash to spend on getting everything just right, from the drinks to the videography to the entertainment and even the cake!

Black Embellishments

Black embellishment was all over the catwalks for SS18 bridal style, and splashes of noir needn’t be limited to a silk black sash on your bridal gown and groomsmen in tuxes. A monochrome theme is thoroughly modern and can extend from your invitations right through to your floral arrangements, table decorations and – of course – the dance floor!
