How to make your wedding tell a story

In most cases a wedding represents the conclusion to a journey that has been ongoing for a number of years. Yet it also marks the start of a new, albeit considerably different, journey. Each couple will have a story that has led to their big day, a tale that has unique details that truly represent them and how they have got to where they are.

Your wedding day should represent the joining of two families and we think that it should also tell your story.

Here are some fun, quirky and romantic ideas for how, we think, your story should be sold.

Pictures // We live in a world that revolves around the use of technology and these days almost all of us have access to a camera. That means that we are each photographers in our own way and so naturally relationship moments will have been caught on camera. There are many quirky and romantic ways to use pictures to tell your wedding story and we suggest taking a look on Pinterest for more ideas. However, our favourite option combines the modern use of smartphones with the old school use of physical pictures. At your wedding reception, chose a wall that is easily visible and accessible to all guests - perhaps the wall behind the bridal table.Grab a stretch of ribbon (in your wedding colours), get your pictures printed off and grab some quirky pegs from a local stationary store. Pop the ribbon on the wall and carefully peg the pictures to the ribbon in the order that the events unfolded. It’s a visual timeline for your guests to ponder over and will tell your story without you having to say a word.

Video // As a videography company we are obviously excited and enthusiastic about the use of film and for us, it can be used during and after your wedding day. Why not take some time to sit down opposite a camera and talk to it about the journey that your relationship took. Tell your guests how you met your better half. Tell them what you liked and didn’t like about them. But most importantly, tell us some of the fun stories that have led you to decide that this person is the one that you want to spend your life with.

Games // Whilst we are romantics at heart and always support the use of romantic gestures, we also believe that your wedding day should be fun and love the idea of games being made part of the reception. Remember the ribbon timeline that we suggested earlier? Why not turn that into a game, asking your guests to put the pictures in the correct order? It’s a light-hearted and fun way of telling your story.
